Tracking cargo containers

Telegesis ZigBee modules are fitted in containers, and attached to sensors which measure the status of locks, acceleration rates (detect if a container is dropped) CO2 (detects people) and other sensors as desired. These ZigBee modules then send data back to a GSM phone which then radios the information about each of the containers and its location back to base.

Telegesis ZigBee modules are being used to monitor the amount of money paid into coin-in-the-slot gaming machines and the amount of money paid out in real time.

Catering Temperatures

ZigBee modules are being used in the offices of a major international bank in London to monitor and report back 150 temperatures (eg fridges, freezers, ovens, hotplates, eating areas etc) from six dining areas, and two kitchens, spaced over eight floors. This ensures good hygiene practices are complied with and that the eating areas are at a pleasant temperature. Since there were no wires, the system took very little time to install.

Fire/smoke detectors

It greatly reduces cost to use ZigBee modules to report back to base rather than sending the same signals over a hard-wired system.

Security/ Text messages to mobile phones

ZigBee modules may be used to monitor the status of doors and locks, and, linked to a central GSM phone system can then send a text message to a mobile phone anywhere in the world. EG "Garage door at cottage was opened 12.34 Tuesday 14 August"
